Carene has been working in veterinary medicine since 2022, beginning her career in reception before transitioning into an Animal Care Attendant role and gradually taking on more hands-on technician responsibilities. As her passion for the medical side of veterinary care continued to grow, she decided to pursue the Veterinary Technician program at Seneca Polytechnic. She graduated in spring of 2026 and became a Registered Veterinary Technician shortly afterward.
Carene has loved animals for as long as she can remember and has spent much of her life surrounded by them. She feels incredibly fortunate to have found a career that allows her to combine her love for animals with her interest in medicine. One of her favourite parts of being an RVT is being able to care for and advocate for patients who cannot speak for themselves. She also loves getting to know patients over time, especially seeing puppies and kittens come in for their very first appointments and then having the opportunity to watch them grow throughout the different stages of their lives.
Outside of the clinic, Carene shares her home with four cats: Pluche, Ponchik, Katzmann, and Princess. Her photo features two of her cats, Ponchik and Pluche. When she’s not working, Carene enjoys spending time with her partner, family, and cats, as well as cooking and baking, drawing/painting, and spending time outdoors.
